Monday Morning Manager Yankees Braves Red Sox a combined 09

So, that Yankees-Braves World Series prediction is working out splendidly, don't you think?

They're a combined 0-6. But I'll stick with it. Combined with the Red Sox's 0-3 start, it looks like there is a little hangover from those pennant-race collapses last season.

Presenting what will be a weekly staple this season, the Monday Morning Manager.

WHO'S HOT

David Wright, Mets: The Mets are 3-0 and Wright is coming through on his audition for his next employer, whoever that may be.

Miguel Cabrera, Tigers: He's played third base every day for the Tigers and a grounder hasn't broken any bones yet. (He does have one error, though.) And he's hitting .455 with three homers and eight RBI in three games.

Jeremy Hellickson, Rays: There have been some great pitching performances by starters so far, but shutting out the Yankees on three hits in 8 2/3 innings is pretty darn good.

WHO'S NOT

Big-name closers: Mariano Rivera has a 54.00 ERA and is 0 of 1 in save opportunities. Jose Valverde didn't blow a save all season in 2011, and blew one on opening day. Andrew Bailey is out for half the season in Boston, and Kyle Farnsworth and Drew Storen are both on the DL as well.

Alex Gordon, Royals: Kansas City took 2 of 3 from the Angels, but Gordon was 0 for 13 and struck out six times.

Mark Trumbo, Angels: Another conversion project isn't going nearly as well. Trumbo has three errors in two games as he attempts to play third base. He is 3 for 7 (.429), however.
