AllTime Matchups Battle No 8 Mariners vs Padres

In case you missed it -- there's a reason MLB should never play weekday morning games -- the Seattle Mariners opened their season this week with a series split against the Oakland A's in Japan.

The Mariners and A's have a hiatus before resuming the schedule at the same time as the rest of the MLB teams next week.

To fill the time, let's bring back the All-Time Lineups series (which matches up the best to play at each position in any one season in team history) with two West Coast expansion teams, the Mariners and Padres, who are a pretty even matchup. Both teams are a little more than a generation old and neither has won a World Series. They each have a left-handed, leadoff right fielder, both among the greatest hitters of all-time.
